Staying at home watching World Cup games is nice, but without the passion
and energy of a crowd, the experience is not complete. To make up for
this absence of energy, the following seven places may be nice choices.
* Paulaner Brauhaus (Fenyanglu shop, German)
With German black beer as charming as the game itself, Paulaner Brauhaus
is the best place for fans supporting German old cart. As Paulaner's
first shop in Shanghai, the Fenyanglu shop boasts the most delicate
garden in the city. During World Cup, if there's any match taking place
during its open hourse, a big screen will be set up in the garden showing
the game. In addition, three TVs on the 3rd floor show a sports channel
all day long. Burning with the passion of German fans, no corner in the
shop is likely to remind diners that it was once owned by Baichongxi (a
Kuomingtang aristocrat in the Civil War period).
Sitting on a wooden bench, watching the freshly brewed black, white and
yellow beers flow out of the big wooden bucket into your mug, , you can't
help ordering a bite of the preserved German pork feet. German ethnic
music is played in the hall giving diners the illusion that they're
actually in Bavaria.

* Latina (Italian)
Originally a Latin restaurant fusing barbeque and beer, Latina was
reconstructed into a famous spot for Italians to watch soccer, after
ownership passed on to Italian Paolo (Chief representative of Asian
Palmeiral soccer club) and his soccer friends. The huge screen on the 3rd
floor shows live matches and limited edition polo shirts hang on the
walls. soccer star Ronaldo has visited this restaurant and had a
get-together with his fans.
Owner Paolo has spent most of his life in the soccer industry. He played
on a second rate Brazilian soccer team, later became a coach, and is a
down to earth fan of the Italian team. "In Italy, the whole family would
watch soccer together; in Shanghai, the whole family comes to Latina, not
for the food or the drinks, but for what's on the screen: soccer!" When
asked about the most attractive characteristics of soccer, Paolo replied
with a famous Italian saying, "Soccer is round and full of possibilities!"

* Marienbad Cafe
Though it might sound a little bit weird to watch the World Cup in a
cafe, it's OK in the Marienbad Cafe. Being a strange cafe itself,
Marienbad is famous for unique decor and interesting visitors. A 2.5
meter wide screen offers a nice place to watch the World Cup. Its
location opposite the French window makes up for the small size: the
audience may stand outside the cafe to watch the games. Also, beers and
snacks are specially prepared for the World Cup.

thing: don't throw around the word "metatarsal" too casually (England
lost several games due to players' broken metatarsals).
